About Hood Robots
👋 Who We Are
Hood Robots is a First LEGO League Challenge team made up of passionate young scientists and engineers — and the two parents who love watching them grow.
Mohammad Zomorodian and Pooneh Fassihi are the coaches behind Hood Robots. As parents ourselves, we believe every child deserves the chance to discover how exciting science and technology can be. We both volunteer our time to make that happen — planning sessions, building challenges, cheering on every small win, and helping kids work through every frustrating moment that eventually becomes a breakthrough.
🤖 What We Do
Each season, our team of four students takes on a real-world scientific challenge. They design and build a LEGO robot, program it to complete field missions, and develop an Innovation Project that addresses a genuine problem in the world. Along the way they practise:
- Critical thinking — how do we solve a problem we have never seen before?
- Teamwork & communication — how do we make decisions together?
- Resilience — what do we do when the robot does not go as planned?
- Creativity — how do we design something no one else has thought of?
🌟 Our Season: BioGlow 2026–2027
This year we are diving into the BioGlow challenge — exploring how living organisms produce and use light, and how that science can inspire new technologies. Our robot, BeamBot, is built and ready. Our Innovation Project, GlowGarden, is taking shape. And the team is more fired up than ever.
📅 This Is Our Third Year
Hood Robots has now competed in First LEGO League for three seasons. Every year the kids get sharper, the robots get smarter, and the teamwork gets stronger. We hope this journal becomes a record of that growth — one session at a time — and a window into all the fun, learning, and laughter that happens in our garage every Saturday morning.
Welcome to Hood Robots. We are glad you are here. 🎉
